The First Hour

An interview with François Samson-Dunlop and Alexandre Fontaine Rousseau about their comic Pinkerton, which will launch officially tomorrow, November 27th, at Casa del Popolo. Also featuring Sophie Yanow, all from the comic collective Colosse.

Then Jen Bieber’s interview with Derek MacCuish of the Social Justice Committee as well as Amy Miller, director of the documentary The Carbon Rush, which airs tonight on Télé Québec.

The Second Hour
Listen:
The headlines from Democracy Now! plus my interview with comic artist Dakota McFadzean about his work. We also talked about the new documentary film, Cartoon College, about the school he attended, the Center for Cartoon Studies in Vermont, a competitive school for graphic artists. The doc features luminaries like Lynda Barry and Chris Ware, and follows a handful of students as they navigate the comic art world and try to figure out how to make it in the big bad world. You can check out Dakota’s work in The Best American Comics 2012.
