Howl! arts collective presents an evening of beautiful musical improvisations via saxophonist Brahja Waldman assembling some of Montreal’s finest grassroots musicians. Also playing at this special concert will be community activist & musicianStefan Christoff, performing new solo piano works, as well as compositions from the upcoming album “Duets for Abdelrazik” album. Join us for a beautiful evening atL’Envers performance space !

A rotation of some very fine Montreal musicians playing empathetic crazy-ass free-improvised music brought together by Montreal saxophonist, Brahja Waldman. The aim and reason for being of the group is to feature different combinations of some of Montreal’s leading improvisers, and symbiotically achieve freedom through friendship for all involved.

Stefan Christoff is a musician, community activist and writer based in Montreal.Stefan plays piano and is working to release Duets for Abdelrazik in 2012, an album of sonic solidarity with Montreal’s Abousfian Abdelrazik who has struggled over the past decade for freedom from prison, torture and against exile in Sudan.

Howl! arts collective aims to build bridges between struggles for social justice and the arts. Howl! aims to highlight Montreal-based artists rooted in Montreal’s fiercely creative independent arts community via cultural events while organizing projects and creating spaces that express a culture of resistance to capitalism and injustice at home and abroad.
