Community Listings
  • Oztara playing tonight, 10pm, at Le Divan Orange (4234 St-Laurent). Mix of influences, from Roma to Reggae to Latino and more. $10.
  • Jonathan Richman (formerly of Modern Lovers) will be at La Sala Rossa (4848 St-Laurent), Saturday night. Doors open at 8pm. $18 + service charges if you buy in advance. $20 plus same if you buy at the door.
  • Check out Open Mic Nights at Shaïka Café (5526 Sherbrooke West) in NDG every Tuesday at 8pm. Hey, you never know what you’ll hear.
  • Likewise for Open Mic Nights at Café des Arts/Arts Café (201 Fairmount West, corner of Esplanade) in Mile-End every Tuesday. If you want to perform, sign-up is by 7:30pm. Event starts at 8pm.
  • Also at the Arts Café is a University of the Streets Café discussion called “To err is human, can we succeed through failure?” This is a public conversation — Yo! It’s open to all! That’s not this Wednesday but the next, October 20th, from 7 to 9pm.
