MMA February 14, 2011 aka Anti-Valentine’s Show

Who said that love should be celebrated only one day of the year? That’s blasphemous! It’s so much so, that the weather and mostly mischievous Cupid, cast a spell and the MMA show started at a little later than expected.  Yes, blame Cupid, and more so, Morrissey, whose love-torn song sneaked on at the end of the show! Guess we had been ignoring him too much lately, the Moz aka Pope of Mope doesn’t dig that from us at MMA, he needs our attention.  We love you Moz, will you be our anti-Valentine?

The Music Lovers – Cheap Songs Tell the Truth – “Song From # 406”

The National – Sad Songs For Dirty Lovers – “Patterns of Fairy Tales”

Zeke’s Alternative Art Rant on Les Sphères Polaires

Cake – Prolonging the Magic – “Never There”

Sabrina’s Secret Stash on James Blake, whose self-titled album is out now (R&S Records).  Listen to it! 🙂  He’s a brilliant electronic musician/vocalist/producer from London, England.

“Unluck,” “I Mind,” “Limit to Your Love,” “The Wilhelm Scream,” and  “Klavierwerke” from the Klavierwerke ep

The Venus in Furs -The Velvet Goldmine soundtrack – “Bitter-Sweet” (Thom Yorke on vocals)

Nicolas’ Bike Report

Life Stories Montreal – Youth Media Workshop

and no anti-Valentine’s Day special would be complete without the legendary:

Joy Division – Love Will Tear Us Apart single – “Love Will Tear Us Apart”

Morrissey – Vauxhall and I – “The More You Ignore Me, the Closer I Get”
